Wonder Woman - The Amazonian Warrior Princess
Created in 1941 by William Moulton Marston, Wonder Woman is one of the longest running and best loved DC superheroes, ever.
Designed to be a positive role model for women, Wonder Woman often brings compassion and level-headedness to situations where traditional male superheroes had previously resulted in physical forms of problem-solving. These personality traits were an integral part of the characters initial development and are a big part of her popularity.
Did you know ...
As well as being the brains behind Wonder Woman, William Moulton Marston was also integral to the development of the lie detector? He invented the systolic blood pressure test which measures the changes in blood pressure when people are put under stressful situations. This may be a reason for one of Wonder Woman’s most iconic tools: her Lasso of Truth.
Though benevolent, loving and peaceful, the Amazonian Princess is more than able to hold her own in combat and is not one to shy away from a challenge. She is an expert warrior and tactician with super human strength, speed and reflexes. She can also fly and has access to a variety of equipment, including: indestructible bracelets forged from the shield of Athena, a sword from the legendary blacksmith Hephaestus, a boomerang Tiara and her iconic Lasso of Truth.
The 2017 Movie will delve into the story of Wonder Woman following her appearance in 2016's Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice. The plot is loosely based on the characters Golden Age story and follows Diana on her quest to return US Intelligence officer Steve Trevor home and in doing so becomes wrapped up during the events of World War One (a change from the original story in which it was World War Two) The movie has been met with critical acclaim and is sure to be a hit for fans of the DC Extended Universe.
